How to Develop Your Physical Priorities Related to Nutrition

1. Determine your values related to nutrition.

2. Determine your goals related to optimal health based on what you will eat and drink moving forward.

3. Commit to your current and/or new and improved values and goals.

4. Contribute towards them by taking a proactive approach in celebrating your values and reaching your goals.

JM's Advice on Nutrition

Food


Make sure you know what you're putting into your body. Do you know how your food is processed, where it comes from, or how it got to your plate? If not, create awareness by doing research, speaking with healthcare professionals, and determining if what you've been doing for years is no longer right for you. If you want to find out why millions of people are becoming vegetarians, all you have to do is ask one. Or read a book about it.

Rather than go on a diet, only eat the healthiest foods available. People get caught up with fad diets because the solution appears easy with the tips and tools that are provided. Why not just commit to eating healthy foods? No one is forcing you to eat food that may not be assisting in your goals of being leaner, stronger, and better. You have the fundamental choice of whether or not you want to put artificial substances into your body. Short-term comfort foods lead to long-term discomfort. People who do what's best for themselves often have never felt better.

Beverages

"Watch your mouth" when it comes to the liquids. We know soda, coffee, and alcohol aren't health elixirs, so why make your journey towards optimal health even more challenging by drinking the stuff that tastes good or pumps you up? What goes up, must come down, and unfortunately, that doesn't mean your weight. When you stick to water, you'll feel and look better.

MultiVitamins

Take your vitamins.
During Fall 2006, my health practioner reviewed my health with me and based on my nutrition at the time, suggested that I take a multi-vitamin. It took me six months to start taking one. If the health professionals in your life suggest that you take a multi-vitamin, and you agree with the suggestion, act fast. Don't allow a lack of focus or discipline prevent you from missing out on healthy opportunities.

Illegal Substances

Dangerous substances
that may lead to abuse, addiction, and dependence can gradually hurt you as well. Alcohol, nicotine, narcotics, and other substances are not given to children for a reason. That doesn't mean that adults should take advantage of their availability. Legal implications aside, avoid all nicotine and narcotics at all costs. Avoid the bad stuff and you'll be good and become even better.

- Water
- Whole grains
- Soy products

If you wish to feel and look bad, consume plenty of these items:

- Fast Food
- Food with Sugar
- Fried Food
- Alcohol
